Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas has confirmed talks with Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala.

Aulas revealed it was actually Mangala, having spent last season on-loan with Valencia, who approached them.

He said: "In central defence, several approaches have been made with 4-5 internationals. Eliaquim Mangala is one of them.

"He came to meet us, it is a proof of obvious interest when a player takes the initiative to come and see the president of the club in which he wants to play.

"You know that he belongs to Manchester City, he is a candidate for the French squad if one qualifies for Russia. It is a wish of OL to have a very ambitious recruitment at the level of the very top teams."
