Lyon move to beat Birmingham for Inter's Vieira

Olympique Lyon hope to beat Birmingham City for Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira.

Inter have agreed to release Vieira this summer and Birmingham have been in talks with the ex-Arsenal captain about a return to England.

However, Lyon have stepped in to offer a two-year contract worth £1.8 million-a-season.
