Olympique Lyon coach Bruno Genesio believes Ashley Williams should've been sent off for sparking the brawl with Everton on Thursday night.
The all-in stoush saw one Everton banned for life after clipping OL goalkeeper Anthony Lopes across the back of the head.
Genesio said: "There should have been the expulsion of Everton's captain. This took us out of the game for about ten minutes. This is regrettable. I appreciated the solidarity of the team because the players were together in this moment but after it was necessary to find calm and mastery.
"Houssem Aouar made a mistake of annoyance for the free-kick which brings the goal. We must also progress in this area since high-level games are also based on this.
"Young players have exceeded what was expected of them. The European matches are teachers."
