Jean Makoun's mooted move to Aston Villa is not yet complete according to manager Claude Puel.
The 27-year old has been heavily linked with a £6.5million shift to Villa Park and although it seems increasingly likely he will join the English club, Puel says at present he is still a Lyon player and still could be this weekend.
"It will depend on his state of mind. If I feel he is ready and that he is mentally right, I don't see why we would deprive ourselves of him," he told L'Equipe.
"We know what he has brought to the team and his importance within the group.
"Jean has not yet left but the club has financial considerations to take into account."
Villa are keen to sign the Cameroon international prior to their Second City derby with Birmingham at St Andrews on Sunday.
