Louis van Gaal has admitted that he would leave his role as Manchester united manager if he ever lost the connection with the playing group.
The Dutchman has been criticised at times this season but still has the Red Devils well-placed to achieve their goal of returning to the Champions League.
In the wake of the 3-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday, which moved United within two points of second-placed Manchester City, van Gaal spoke of the fact that he now feels comfortable as Old Trafford boss as long as the players feel content under his management.
"When I think that the chemistry between the players and the manager is not good enough anymore then I go," he said.
"But when I see the chemistry between myself and the players now then I don't have any doubts.
"We have to continue in our process.
"Of course we have had disappointing moments but we can survive and we have the confidence to qualify for the Champions League."
