LVG admits Man Utd injury list is 'unbelievable'

Manchester Unite manager Louis van Gaal has admitted that his ever-growing injury list is now 'unbelievable'.

United lost Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Will Keane to injuries during the 3-0 FA Cup win over Shrewsbury Town on Monday night.

The Red Devils had to finish the game with ten men after substitute Keane limped off with a groin problem with 14 minutes left in the game, adding to the club's mounting injury list which is beginning to become a massive problem for van Gaal.

Van Gaal said: "It is unbelievable because [in addition to the substitutes] I have taken Borthwick-Jackson off because he was injured.

"[Jesse] Lingard was also struggling at the end. I changed [Juan] Mata and [Anthony] Martial to give them rest and then the substitutes are more or less again injured, so it is unbelievable – it is the programme I think."

Regarding the fitness of goalkeeper David De Gea, who was injured in the warm-up prior to last Thursday's Europa League meeting with FC Midtjylland, van Gaal added: "I don't know, it is not so heavy but we have to wait and see when we can start him again."

Chris Smalling, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard all scored as United got past the League One Salop at New Meadow in the fifth round of the cup.
