Lukaku: I've returned to Chelsea a better player

Romelu Lukaku is delighted to be back at Chelsea for the start of preseason.

The striker expects to be part of manager Jose Mourinho's plans this campaign.

"It's good to be back - It was always my aim to come back. Now I'm here and very happy," he said after the club's first training session back on Monday.

"I set myself a goal [for last season's loan] and over achieved, now it's up to me to do better this year.

"I developed overall - with my back to goal, my skills in small spaces and in big spaces - and I've become quicker, stronger. So that's a good sign and hopefully I can continue that in the next years.

"The players know what we have to do. We have to work hard and bring success to the team.

"My goal is to improve as much as I can and be an important figure at this club.

"I think last year I had a great year and I want to confirm that this year. I'm very ambitious.

"I'm also very young but I'm very ambitious. I want to work hard and play as much as I can. But it's up to me: I have to keep going like I was last year and I think it will not be a problem."
