Luis Gil taking time over Arsenal offer

USA U17 international midfielder Luis Gil is keeping Arsenal waiting over the prospect of signing with the London giants.

Gil has trialled with Arsenal this year and is expected to make a decision about his future after Italy ended the US's U17 World Cup campaign this week.

He said: “There are a couple of words going out there saying that I had signed with Arsenal but in reality I just went there for about a week and a half on trial.

“It was a good experience, the staff was good, the environment was beautiful. But as of now I’ve just done a trial, so far.”

Gil is also weighing up MLS offers and has turned down an approach from the Mexican Federation to commit his international future to the US.

He added: “I got comfortable being here, I got most of my experience in the US, and I’m looking forward to playing for this team.”

Freddy was a US media invention. He had too little potential for someone like Wenger to rate him.
