Villarreal boss Marcelino denied claims that his side were lucky to score a 1-0 win over Liverpool on Thursday night.
The Yellow Submarine edged the Reds in the semi-final first leg of the Europa League thanks to Adrian Lopez's injury-time goal which Marcelino admits was slightly fortuitous.
However, the Spaniard did not feel the result was fortunate for Villarreal who created a couple of key chances throughout at El Madrigal.
"Until the final whistle you can score or concede a goal and this time we were lucky enough to score in the very last minute," he said.
"We managed a good result but we don't know if it will be short or not until the end of the tie.
"It was not an unfair result and we didn't beat Liverpool by being lucky."
Villarreal will travel to England for the return leg at Anfield next Thursday.
