Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Lucas Perez will be given the chance to shine for Arsenal on Tuesday night.
The Spanish striker has only started twice for the Gunners since arriving from Deportivo La Coruña in the summer but has impressed when given the opportunity by Wenger.
Following a nice second-half cameo in the 6-0 Champions League win over Ludogorets Razgrad last week, Perez is expected to start in the fourth round of the EFL Cup at the Emirates Stadium against Reading.
"He did extremely well against Ludogorets because he came on and gave two great goals," Wenger said, via Arsenal.com.
"He was a bit like the rest of the team against Middlesbrough, in that he could not have as big an impact because the whole team was not functioning as well.
"I believe he has the potential to be a great player for us. In training he continues to show he has the potential to play, he now has to transfer that into the games.
"The more he does that - against Reading he will have an opportunity - the more we will be tempted to say, 'let's do it'."
The 28-year-old scored two goals against Nottingham Forest in the third round of the league cup as the Gunners won 4-0 last month.
