Lomana Lualua knows he must silence his critics in and outside Portsmouth this season.

He told the Portsmouth News: "I'm really enjoying it but sometimes you don't forget what happened - and I haven't forgotten all of a sudden.

"People - and people in the club - said things about me and it was a learning curve for me.

"I'm just glad in a way that everything has happened so that's all behind me now. I've had a good summer. I knew I was coming back here and now I can play, hopefully.

"Last season I had no excuse but I was injured and there were a few things that happened. But that's all behind me now, a new season, a new start, I just want to be injury free and enjoy the season.

"It's like a new beginning, that's the best thing about it, a season's finished and a new season starts and that's what I'm looking forward to. Hopefully I will be given a chance to show what I can do because I will score goals and I have already shown that."
