Newcastle United winger Peter Lovenkrands was thrilled with his goal in their victory over West Brom.

Former Schalke striker Lovenkrands was handed his first start since signing a short-term deal until the end of the season, and later admitted he could not remember the last time he scored a senior goal.

The Denmark international said: "My last goal was maybe a year ago.

"I had a couple of reserve team goals, but it's been a long time on the big scene. It was just great to help the team.

"I was absolutely buzzing the whole day when I found out I was starting. I was very nervous as well.

"Starting the Premier League and scoring was incredible - but the most important thing was that we got the three points."
