Peter Lovenkrands left Rangers for Schalke after six years at Ibrox but is now desperate for a return. The 28-year-old striker arrived in the Bundesliga in 2006 but has struggled to become a first team regular.

"There is no future for me at Schalke. Hopefully something will happen in January, said Lovenkrands to The Sun.

"There was a lot of talk about me returning to Rangers last summer. It didn't happen, but I would love to go back there.

"Of course, if the opportunity arose again, I would be delighted."
