Former Newcastle United striker Peter Lovenkrands is backing his old club for a top eight finish.
The Dane was part of the United squad that finished fifth two years ago.
He told the Evening Chronicle: "They have signed some players and it will be interesting to see what they can do.
"I see that they are still looking for another striker - Pardew has my number if needs it!
"But if they get Loic Remy in again, who was fantastic for them last season, and they can keep him fit it would be fantastic for the club.
"There are a lot of foreign players there now. They need to get bonding and get that team spirit back together.
"If they can get that back to how it was two or three years ago they have a chance."
