Lazio president Claudio Lotito says they deserve to be in the Coppa Italia final.

Lazio beat Napoli in the semifinals this week.

Around 3,000 fans were waiting for the squad at the Formello training ground at 2am on Thursday morning.

"Particular thanks goes to the fans who cheered on the squad at the Termini train station before the game and for the affection the fans showed all the stars of this great result by rushing to celebrate at Formello at 2am and beyond," said President Lotito.

"The performance at the San Paolo certifies the quality and character of this group, who not only interpreted a difficult game in the best possible way, but also invested every resource into this long journey that will take us to the Coppa Italia Final on June 7.

"Above all, the team achieved this with a great sense of humility and spirit of sacrifice. We deserved the Coppa Italia Final more than any other club. Now we want to break the final ribbon and achieve what remains one of our principle objectives for this season, along with European qualification.

"My compliments go to the lads, Coach Stefano Pioli and all the staff for giving us a fantastic night."
