Loris Karius says leaving Liverpool this summer was "out of the question".
The German goalkeeper arrived last year from Mainz and began the season as manager Jurgen Klopp's No1, before being dropped for Simon Mignolet in December.
Karius told Bild am Sonntag: "It is not the way for me to give up so quickly. At a club like Liverpool, I want to work through the seasons and stay here for years. A giant club, so a change was out of the question.
"But I would have personally hoped for things to be a bit more positive."
On Klopp, he added: "He is a coach who demands a lot. But I had very good conversations with him and have a good feeling about the matter."
