Liverpool's place as joint leaders of the Premiership should be answer enough to the critics who say the Reds are too defensive minded.
But the 26 year old insists Liverpool are not prepared to abandon their methods at the risk of sacrificing success, telling The Sun: "We will play our style and try to win the title in our own way.
"We are so obsessed with winning the league this season that it is almost dangerous.
"There is this feeling that we are better and more powerful than we have ever been under Rafa.
"We do not need to play super-elaborate football like Arsenal or Barcelona.
"I know that some people try to put us down and say that we are too defensive or not as attractive as other sides.
"But everything we have achieved this season disproves that nonsense.
"If Liverpool was such a defensive or sterile team as some people seem to claim then we would never have won as many matches as we have this season."

I don't think liverpool play too defensively. It's just a case of having balance between attack and defense. Liverpool is a team that don't score many goals so they have to defend well to be top of the table. Haters can say what they want, but remember "Titiles are win by DEFENSE". Go On LIVERPOOL
liverpool shall never win a league by the way they are playing.it is very through that they play very defensive football and if a team want to win a leageu you must balance the team but if you see the way they played its very defensive mined and teams will start to know how they play and then they will start to loose.This is MAN UTD oR CHELSEA
as i';ve always said, loserpool will auto crumble.. cant even win against relegation bound fulham.. and one thing experience told us, over the last decade, never rule man utd out.. this yr is man utd or chelsea. no way for loserpool..
