Longstaff delighted working with Newcastle stars Shelvey, Diame

Sean Longstaff is delighted to be with Newcastle United's squad for their Ireland tour.

The 20-year-old midfielder is one of four Under-23 players who have been included in the Newcastle first-team squad for a week-long training camp at Carton House in the Republic of Ireland.

“It's been great so far. I'm really enjoying my first trip away with the first-team squad because I'm learning all the time," Longstaff said of the training camp during an interview with nufcTV.

“There are no better players to learn from. You look at Jonjo (Shelvey), he could have easily gone to the World Cup, and Jamaal (Lascelles) probably could have done it as well.

“Even the likes of people in my position, such as Mo (Diame) and Jonjo, they've played hundreds of Premier League games and they're great people to learn off so I can't ask for any better experience than this.

“That's why you play, to test yourself against players like this and to see the level you need to get to.

“It's good to test yourself against them and then you see how much you need to improve to get to that level."
