Long fury as West Brom blocked big-money Hull move

Shane Long is fuming with West Bromwich Albion after having a move to Hull City blocked.

The Daily Mail says Long will be furious with his club West Brom after they pulled his £5million deal to join Hull City just 10 minutes before the window was due to shut.

Long left the Irish training camp near Dublin this afternoon and flew to Leeds-Bradford airport where he was met by Steve Bruce.

The former Reading striker had a medical at a clinic in Leeds and was then driven over to Hull's training ground by Bruce to complete the formalities of the deal.

Having agreed terms, the pair were about to sign a new club record deal for Hull City when West Brom pulled the plug just after 10.45pm.

West Brom had been in talks with Romelu Lukaku and Victor Anichebe over possible loan moves but had been unable to agree terms for either player.

When those moved collapsed, the call was made to Long to return to the Midlands after the international week.
