Shane Long followed his gut joining Hull City.
The former West Bromwich Albion striker made the move last week.
Steve Bruce's persistence resulted in a resurrected bid this month and leaves Long at last able to plan a fresh chapter of his career with the Tigers.
"It showed that the manager wanted me at the club," said Long. "It wasn't a panic buy the last time and he had a lot of time to think about it this time.
"That gives me confidence to come in knowing that I'm what he wants. There is pressure on me to produce and follow up on that confidence he showed in me."
