And five-goal Long, 24, admitted: "Our partnership will blossom in time but there are more options for the manager if not.
"It's not been too good so far. We've both been unlucky with injury and need time to understand each other's runs.
"Peter is obviously a very good striker and he knows what he's doing. I learn a lot off him.
"I watched him on TV last season and set myself the target to get to his level - and show that I can cut it too."
