Long departs West Brom to join 'on the up' Hull

Shane Long admitted his delight at completing his transfer to Hull City on Sunday.

The 26-year old Republic of Ireland striker has left West Bromwich Albion to join the Tigers in a deal believed to be worth around £7million.

After finalising the move, Long spoke highly of his new club as he gets set to perform at his best under Steve Bruce.

"It's a club that's on the up, and I'm delighted to be a part of that," he said.

"I'm lucky that I've had a few inside informers letting me know what it's like up here. They all love it up here, and they're excited by what is happening at the club.

"After meeting the manager, and respecting what he's done as a player and a manager, I was happy to start a new part of my career here and hopefully I can score a few goals to take us further up the league."

Long joins Croatian striker Nikica Jelavic at KC Stadium after he arrived from Everton last week for £6.5million.
