Local striker Peter Haynes is hoping to be given a chance to become an A-League player with the chance of a trial with the Newcastle Jets.
Haynes currently plays in the Northern NSW State League with the Broadmeadow Magic where he has scored 23 goals this season and as the Jets search for a new striker, the 26-year old has received the backing of Jets fans who have written into The Herlad saying he should be considered.
Haynes isn't sure if he will get an opportunity but believes he would do well if afforded a chance.
"I haven't heard anything from them," he told The Herald.
"I think everyone who plays in Newcastle would love to play for the Jets, and I would certainly jump at the chance to do to a session with them even.
"They make the decisions on who they want and who fits into their systems," he said. "And at this stage I'm obviously not doing the right things or not needed, I guess, which is fine."
