Charlton Athletic have confirmed that Milos Veljkovic will require surgery for a dislocated shoulder.
The 19-year old Serbian defender, who is on loan from Tottenham, sustained the injury in last weekend's loss to Middlesbrough and will now be sidelined for the remainder of the Championship season.
Addicks physio Erol Umut revealed to the club's official website that Veljkovic would go in for the operation next week before beginning his rehabilitation which will take up to three months.
"This, unfortunately, means that his season is all but over because those kind of injuries normally take around 9-12 weeks to come back from," Umut told the club's official website.
"He is very disappointed and said he wanted to try the rehabilitation route, rather than the surgical one, but the damage is quite severe.
"It's a bad one and the shoulder is unstable now so he has been advised by the Tottenham medical staff as well as the shoulder specialist that the best thing for him to do is have an operation.
"He will undergo the operation on Monday and I will stay in touch with Spurs about his rehabilitation from that point onwards."
