Joey Barton admits Marseille's 2-1 victory at Brest on the weekend was a very important result in terms of the French Ligue 1 title.
The midfielder, on loan from QPR, provided the assists for goals from Souleymane Diawara and Andre Ayew as Les Phoceens went second on the table and he was absolutely thrilled with the nature of the win following a disappointing 4-1 defeat to league leaders Lyon during the week.
"This is a great victory. It was a tough match. The playing conditions were very "English", which was fine," Barton told RMC.
"It's good to have won after our defeat against Lyon.
"We answered this and it is never easy to come play at Brest. I think many teams will experience difficult times here."
Marseille now sits two points behind Lyon who beat reigning champions Montpelleir 1-0 at home on the weekend.
