Loic Remy's first-half brace proved to be the difference in Newcastle United's clash with Cardiff City on Saturday, with the Magpies running out 2-1 winners at the Cardiff City Stadium.
The QPR striker moved to Tyneside on loan in the summer and the Frenchman proved his value for the Magpies frontline when he opened the scoring on the half-hour mark.
The 26-year old picked up the ball on the halfway line, cut inside past a few Cardiff defenders and struck a lovely shot into the bottom corner past City keeper David Marshall.
Remy doubled his advantage eight minutes later when he capitalized on a rebound from Papiss Cisse's blocked shot, this time steering the ball inside the far post leaving Marshall with no chance.
After almost joining Newcastle in January before opting on a move to Loftus Road, Remy has impressed so far scoring five goals in his last three games, drawing high praise from manager Alan Pardew who spoke to Sky Sports after the game.
"We are really pleased to have him, I thought he was excellent. Not just his two goals, but his work-rate and everything he did was competent," said Pardew.
"He is a player on our books and we are pleased to have him, but at the moment he is a QPR player. It was interesting to read Harry Redknapp's comments that he probably won't be going back, but we will have to see."
