LOAN WATCH: Man Utd great Keane can help me get back into England contention - Aston Villa's Cleverley

Aston Villa midfielder Tom Cleverley believes the influence of Roy Keane can assist him getting back into the England national team.

The 25-year old, who is on a season-long loan from Manchester United, played the last of his 13 international caps in a friendly loss to Germany in November last year and also lost his place in the starting line-up at United in between then and now.

Cleverley was sent to Villa in the summer and he feels the guidance of assistant manager Keane, United's former skipper, can help him get back into Roy Hodgson's Three Lions calculations.

"Roy is demanding. He's trying to add things into my game that I know I can do," he told the Daily Star of the hard-noised Irishman.

"He's pushing me to my limits and hopefully we can get that extra couple more per cent. When things need saying, he says them.

"At United you're told to play the right way and sometimes last year maybe I was being too much of a perfectionist.

"Sometimes you can take a few more risks which are needed to win games. That's a side of my game which Roy and the manager [Paul Lambert] are getting back."
