The Chelsea duo continued their impressive form for the Eredivisie club with the former opening the scoring within seven minutes. Travelling with the ball from left back, van Aanholt found some space 20 yards out from goal and took his opportunity, striking an excellent drive past Heracles keeper Remko Pasveer.
Five minutes before half time, Piazon doubled the lead with a pinpoint shot from the edge of the area to take his goal tally for the season to 11 in the league.
A second-half brace from Heracles’ Bryan Linssen leveled the game and the scoreline stayed that away until the end as Vitesse blew their lead at the top of the Eredivisie. Following Ajax’s win over Roda JC, the Amsterdam club leapfrogged Vitesse into first place on goal difference.
