LOAN WATCH: Birmingham boss Clark admits "you can't teach Macheda scoring instinct"

Birmingham City boss Lee Clark is delighted with the goalscoring form of Kiko Macheda.

Macheda netted twice in Birmingham City's 3-1 win at Doncaster Rovers, taking his tally to nine in 12 appearances.

The Italian, who signed on loan from Manchester United, has scored four lots of braces in that tally.

"We got him about two hours before the deadline shut and it was a hell of a deal for us," said Clark.

"You can help those lads by giving them good training sessions, but you can't coach that. It is a natural instinct being a striker.

"I was lucky enough in my career to play behind some of the best and, you know, they have just got this knack of being in the right place at the right time.

"And goalscorers as well, they are very rarely hitting 25-yarders in the top corners. They are getting four or five-yard tap-ins, like his second goal, Johnny On The Spot, he flicks it in. And from where I was standing his first goal looked a very accomplished finish.

"That's put him on nine for us now. In terms of minutes on the pitch, his goals ratio would be ridiculous for us.

"He was better when he had a target man (Nikola Zigic on), rather than him being the main striker as he was in the first-half.

"It helped release the load so he could get on and focus on scoring goals."
