In a tense affair at the Anoeta Staduim on the weekend, Atletico Madrid managed to walk away with all three points defeating Real Sociedad 2-1.
The visitors looked in control for the majority of the match as goals from both sides of the half by David Villa and Koke put Diego Simeone's side in the driver's seat.
However, Sociedad were spurred on after Xabi Prieto's 69th minute goal and an onslaught ensued in the last twenty minutes only for on-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to deny the home side of an equalizer with two world saves.
Within the space of a minute, Esteban Granero dispatched a low shot that was destined for the bottom corner but the Belgian somehow managed to get down and deflect the ball over the bar.
Only moments later, Courtois stopped Ruben Pardo's powerful shot that look destined for the top corner, preserving all three points for Atletico.
