LOAN WATCH: Assaidi laments unavailability for Stoke v Liverpool clash

Stoke City loanee Oussama Assaidi admits he rues not being able to play against parent club Liverpool this weekend.

The Moroccan winger is on a season-long loan with the Potters and part of the agreement with the Reds is that he cannot be involved when the two clubs meet.

Stoke host Liverpool at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday and Assaidi is disappointed that he will be forced to the Potters touchline to watch two sets of his teammates in action against each other.

"I would love to be involved in the game, but through rules and regulations that isn't possible unfortunately," he told the club's official website.

"There is nothing I can do about it, apart from sit on the sidelines and cheer my team-mates on, which is what I will be doing on Sunday.

"I want Stoke City to win the game of course, because this is where I am playing my football at the moment, and for as long as I am here I will want us to win every game we play.

"We have started the year well - maybe we are still disappointed not to have won the game against Everton (1-1 draw on New Year's Day), but a point wasn't bad."
