Catania director Pietro Lo Monaco admits they cannot afford derby defeat today against Palermo.
"I always want to win, as losing for us is like a stab in the stomach," said the general manager.
"A victory in Palermo would make the whole city happy and I would be the first to celebrate that, but the important thing as a director is that the club picks up points by playing well."
Both sides were out of the Serie A scene for decades, but while Palermo are currently pushing for a UEFA Cup place, the Elefantini are trying not to get sucked back into the relegation zone.
"We have nothing to envy Palermo," assured Lo Monaco, who hit the headlines thanks to his bitter row with Inter boss Jose Mourinho earlier this season.
"[Palermo President Maurizio] Zamparini said there is a different type of football between these two cities - I am very glad there is.
"The figures he mentioned paying for the team were 60m Euros, but with that money Catania would have built a squad and three training camps with some left to spare.
"The derby must not have too much pressure put on it, because tension and motivation comes from the game itself. In any case, we have to remember there are only three points at stake.
"We welcomed Palermo to Catania in the best possible way when we met earlier this term. There is a good rapport between the clubs and I understood what real rivalry means, hoping it will always remain in the stands as good-natured jeering."
