League Managers' Association chairman Howard Wilkinson has slammed Bolton Wanderers' decision to axe Sammy Lee.
"You could be excused for thinking it's a good time to bury bad news, as a certain Press secretary once said.
"But this sort of thing doesn't come as a surprise any more - the international break seems to be the Ides of March for some club managers.
"The LMA would like to see any manager given a decent length of time. But Sammy Lee got this job in very difficult circumstances.
"It was his first managerial job and he was following an accomplished manager in Sam Allardyce, who had been so successful for so long.
"So he had that to contend with as well as trying to win football matches. It is quite soon for the Bolton board to be jumping to conclusions."
