LMA: Premiership becoming like Hollywood

Howard Wilkinson believes the Barclays Premier League is the new "Hollywood" following the arrival of another foreign coach.

The chairman of the League Managers' Association is calling on the Football Association and the Premier League to stem the tide.

He was speaking in the wake of the appointment of Spaniard Juande Ramos at Tottenham after leaving Sevilla.

Ramos joins the likes of Arsene Wenger, Rafael Benitez, Avram Grant and Sven-Goran Eriksson in the top flight.

"It is not just a real worry for the LMA, it is a real worry for our nation, " Wilkinson told Five Live's Sportsweek programme.

"I do not think it is just a question of managers and coaches.

"This spreads throughout the whole of football right down to grass roots and will eventually affect standards at the elite end, by that I mean the England team.

"Yes, the infusion of foreign players and foreign coaches has raised standards. But the uncontrolled rush of them will eventually lower standards.

"If we are to do anything about that then we need strong leadership at the FA, Premier League and within clubs because it has now become Hollywood."
