Lloris urges Tottenham standards to lift - 'Today was not good enough'

Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has implored his teammates to bounce back from Wednesday night's loss to Monaco.

The North London club endured their first defeat of the season by losing 2-1 to AS Monaco in their opening Champions League fixture at Wembley.

An error-prone first half led to Tottenham's negative result and although goalkeeper Lloris says it is merely a blip on what has been a decent beginning for Mauricio Pochettino's men, the Frenchman suggests the standards must lift.

"It's not enough to talk with words. You have to show the right attitude. In the first half we had to show more," said Lloris.

"The atmosphere was incredible and they deserved more from us.

"There are five games to go and we will need to learn from our mistakes quickly

"It's our first loss and it's a big disappointment because there was big expectation. We need to perform well. Today was not enough."
