Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris denied the sale of Gareth Bale brought into question their ambition.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was critical of Spurs for "selling their best player" to Real Madrid.

But Lloris told lacremeanglaise.com: "No, I do not think so. You have to see the management of the president. He waited until the last moment (for the sale). Meanwhile, he made a rather attractive mercato.

"He has not been afraid to spend big (€128 million).
