Nice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has rejected the chance to join Tottenham or AC Milan to link up with French champions Lyon for next season.
He will be the replacement for France goalkeeper Gregory Coupet, who has chosen to quit the Stade Gerland after picking up his seventh league winner's medal.
"It is going to give me a great chance to develop and step up a level," Lloris told a specially convened press conference on Thursday.
"I really felt a lot of desire on the part of Lyon to work with me. From that moment, there was no need to reflect any more.
"It will be a great challenge for me to succeed him (Coupet). It won't worry me; personally, I would say it is an honour."
On the reported interest from Spurs and Milan, Lloris said: "There was a choice to make and I have made it. I also wanted to settle this quickly to allow my formative club (Nice) to find someone to replace me."
