Livorno have axed goalkeeper Marco Amelia for today's meeting with Palermo.

Amelia is furious that a deadline day move to Palermo was rejected by Livorno and so has been rested for the game.

The decision was made "as the player seemed dazed by the transfer stories that too often splashed him across the front pages.

"These were news stories that, almost always, proved to be unfounded or blown up by the media," announced Livorno yesterday.
