Liverpool youngster David Ngog was again impressive in the reserve-team's 0-0 draw with Manchester United.
Reds coach Gary Ablett told liverpoolfc.tv: "I thought David did very well against two boys who were eager to impress. He used his body well and set up play.
"He had two chances. There was one in the first half that he could have headed but handled - though it was a really good run and a great ball from Dani Pacheco. Then he was unlucky with a volley in the second half."
Most of Liverpool's attacking play in Altrincham involved the impressive Nabil El Zhar, who looked full of confidence after a season punctuated by first-team cameos.
Ablett added: "Nabil was very lively. He looked a constant threat and that was probably one of his best performances for us this season. He was tiring towards the end and lost possession a couple of times, but on the whole he can be really pleased."
