Liverpool's Torres: Tough to bring club form to international stage

Fernando Torres says he'll struggle to translate his Liverpool form onto the Euro2008 stage for Spain this month.

Torres said: "It is obvious that the football is different from the Premier League, more vertical and long passes, but those of us who come back from abroad we need to adapt to the national team.

"In my case, I am the one that needs to adapt myself to the way the team plays and not the other way round. If this team is united and works as a unit, we can achieve great things.

"It is all the same to me because the national team has a definite system and it works well with one striker or two. It is much easier to adapt to playing alongside great players, like David Villa, and the quality that comes from midfield.

"This team likes to dominate the ball and is very offensive and, therefore, it is obvious that the defence will suffer more. But Spain has a good defence and we have shown that."
