Liverpool striker Fernando Torres says he had to get away from Atletico Madrid to better himself.

Torres explained: "I saw that I had done everything I could and that things were not improving. I needed to play in the 'Champions', to aspire to things and to feel an important player, recognized outside of Spain. And for that reason I made the decision to leave."
