Liverpool's Torres eyes Golden Boot

Fernando Torres admits he has an eye on the Premiership's Golden Boot this season.

The striker, who has scored 12 goals so far this season, told liverpoolfc.tv: "A team success will always be more important than any individual prize or award, though it is often true that the side which wins the league also has the league's top goalscorer in its team.

"I have to admit that it would be really nice to finish up as the top goalscorer, but it is more important that Liverpool do really well this season."

Meanwhile, Torres revealed how he owes a debt of gratitude to his Liverpool teammates for the way they've helped him settle into life at a new club.

He said: "All my teammates have treated me really well. Everyone has been great from day one.

"For example, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have sent me messages to my phone welcoming me to the club.

"Also all the people who work at the club, I would like to thank them all for their time and help.

"And Pepe Reina and Xabi Alonso have been helping me out with any problems or doubts that I may have understanding the language.

"My first challenge is to gain a regular place in the starting 11 and then my aim is to try and help my side by scoring as many goals as possible.

"At this club there are exciting new challenges every day and I am happy with all these challenges that lie ahead.

"I had been told long before signing that the club is a living legend, with plenty of history and a good club to be at, both as a footballer and a person - and to tell the truth all of this is true.

"This is truly a great club."
