Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano admits he's yet to speak with Diego Maradona about plans to make him new Argentina captain.

"I haven't spoken to him yet so I don't know what will happen about the captaincy but it is great to have him as our manager," said Mascherano.

"He is a true legend, the game's greatest ever player."
