Liverpool's Mascherano proud of Argentina captaincy

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano admits he's delighted to be Argentina's new captain.

Besides winning another Gold medal at the Olympics another big highlight of 2008 from Mascherano was being made captain of Argentina by Diego Maradona.

"That was an amazing honour for me," he told liverpoolfc.tv.

"Always to play for your country is the best thing you can experience and to be made captain was a great feeling and is something that I never imagined.

"I always try to give my best for the team and Diego is always fantastic with me and has been very supportive."
