Liverpool's Mascherano: Leaving West Ham right decision

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has no regrets over his departure from West Ham United last January.

Ahead of last night's 4-0 thrashing of his former club, Mascherano told liverpoolfc.tv: "I don't have any problem with West Ham.

"The players there were good teammates for me and always supported me.

"Things did not work out for me there but that's the way it goes sometimes.

"The important thing now is that I am very happy at Liverpool. I have signed a permanent deal, so I know I will be here for four years and that is a fantastic feeling for me and for my family.

"I am very happy to be at Liverpool because it is such a special club. I feel like I belong here and the best thing now is that I can just concentrate on playing my football because I know that my future is sorted out.

"The fans have been fantastic to me. Whenever I hear them sing my name it gives me a wonderful feeling and it is an honour for me to play for them.

"But it isn't just the fans, it is everyone in Liverpool. I feel Liverpool is my home.

"I am at a club that can win big titles and I have been welcomed by everyone so I am really happy."
