Liverpool's Johnson: England want to win Holland friendly

England are going out to win their friendly game against Holland on Wednesday, according to Liverpool full-back Glen Johnson. "It would be nice to come away with the win. Obviously it's a friendly but we'll be playing to win," he said.

"They've [Holland] got a good side and a good squad but we've been playing well and we'll be going there looking for a win."

The timing of the fixture has been criticised by many Premier League managers, but Johnson is relaxed over playing games in quick succession, adding, "I know a lot of people who think this is strange but it's another pre-season game and good for the squad to join up."

Johnson refused to speculate on England's World Cup chances and insisted the squad were focused on confirming their place at the tournament first.

"It's every child's dream to play in the World Cup, obviously it's there in back of my mind but we'll focus on getting there first," he explained.

"We're close but we haven't talked about it, the main objective is to get the points needed and then we'll worry about South Africa."
