Liverpool's Gerrard says England must not start slowly against San Marino

England skipper Steven Gerrard says they must be quick out of the blocks against World Cup qualifying opponents San Marino tonight.

It happened away to Andorra when England were goalless at half-time.

"The pressure grows, the fans get frustrated and you get more tense," said Liverpool midfielder Gerrard. "They're out to keep the score down. They'll slow the game down, do stupid fouls, try to get the referee to do anything to stop us from scoring and winning comfortably.

"It's a hiding to nothing. If we don't win by more than three or four we don't get any credit. It comes with different pressures and it's all about tempo. It's important we don't get dragged down to what they want, which is to play slowly."
