Liverpool's Gerrard raps Lampard: We're not to blame

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard admits he's unhappy with comments made by Chelsea's Frank Lampard last week. The Anfield man took issue with Lamps' claim that their failure to gel was what cost England a place at Euro 2008.

Gerrard said: "I didn't totally agree with that because I don't think we played that much together as a pair. There were other things so blame the whole squad because we didn't deliver, we didn't get the country to the championships.

"I did tell Frank he might have been slightly harsh there.

"We are mates off the field, there is no problem but it is difficult to talk off the pitch and say 'We will do this or that'. It doesn't happen.

"If anyone can improve this partnership though and make us play together, it is Fabio and his team.

"We have both got to keep working hard and try to ensure it can happen. There's no point giving up on it now."
