Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard could miss England's Euro2008 qualifiers against Russia and Israel.

Gerrard is ruled out again against Toulouse with a hairline fracture in the big toe of his right foot and Rafa Benitez fears he will not be ready to face Derby on Saturday.

The manager said: "We need to check about England. We are optimistic but we need to talk to the doctor and check if he is really fit or if it's a risk or not.

"It is a broken bone. He can train, he can run, but he is not training with the team and if he touches the ball he is always taking care."
