Liverpool star Steven Gerrard will be Fabio Capello's new England captain.
The Sun says however the position of permanent England skipper is still up for grabs.
Boss Capello has settled on the experienced Liverpool midfielder as leader for his first game in charge against Switzerland at Wembley next Wednesday.
Gerrard, 27, was vice-captain to John Terry during Steve McClaren's England reign.
And with Chelsea centre-back Terry injured, Gerrard was always one of the hot favourites to take over.
But he is very much on trial and not guaranteed the job for next month's friendly in France.
